We are thrilled to share the results from the 2024 Bury Schools’ Cross Country Championships held at Heaton Park. It was an exciting day of competition, with 11 schools and approximately 110 pupils participating in each race. We are particularly proud of our pupils, with several exceptional performances that stood out. Our top 20 finishers showcased incredible dedication and skill and we are excited to announce that any pupil who finished in the top 12 will have the opportunity to represent Bury at the Greater Manchester Cross Country Championships – an amazing achievement! School cadets honour Remembrance Day

In honour of Remembrance Day, the dedicated cadets of Philips High School engaged in a meaningful series of activities to show respect and raise funds for veterans. Over the last two weeks, the cadets have been actively involved in selling poppy merchandise, both around the school grounds and in the community. With great enthusiasm and dedication, they volunteered two weekends to raise funds at local supermarkets, connecting with the community to raise awareness and gather contributions for veterans and their families. Our Year 10 BTEC dance students recently had the unforgettable opportunity to attend a performance of Chicago at the iconic Palace Theatre. This Broadway-calibre production offered a unique and thrilling experience, allowing students to see their current studies brought to life by world-class performers. Book fair comes to school

From 5 to 8 November, our school library was buzzing with activity as we hosted a highly anticipated book fair. With three display cases brimming with popular, trending titles, the fair drew in enthusiastic readers eager to explore both well-loved stories and exciting new arrivals. Among the books were fan favourites like Heartstopper and other works by Alice Oseman, Lauren Roberts’ Powerless series, Five Nights at Freddy’s graphic novels and the latest instalment of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
