31st March 2021
Dear Year 11 Parents/Carers,
I would like to thank you for your support in re-integrating your child back into school, following the latest lockdown. It has been a challenging few weeks, but we are pleased with the progress the Year 11 pupils have made in the classroom since the 8th March.
As previously communicated, we will continue to assess the pupils informally for the first three weeks after Easter and then from Monday 10th May, for two weeks, have a ‘Final Assessment Fortnight’. This will take place in normal lessons, but this is their last opportunity to show us what they know and can do. During this time the assessment papers will be marked and moderated within departments and your child’s teachers will be calculating a GCSE grade in each subject based on all available evidence completed throughout Year 10 & 11. The grades will then be carefully checked before the deadline on Friday 18th June.
I have attached to this letter our Timetable for the ‘Final Assessment Fortnight’. This should hopefully give your child a clear idea of when the assessments are taking place and an opportunity for them to prepare for them over the next few weeks.
I would also like to thank you for completing the recent survey in relation to the Year 11 Leavers’ Prom. Unfortunately, we have not reached the required numbers in order for the event to go ahead, therefore we have had to cancel the booking. I know this will be very disappointing for many students as it is for me. However, we do have a Leavers’ Assembly event planned to take place in school – more details to follow.
May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Easter – I hope you all have a lovely break.
We look forward to seeing all the pupils back on the 19th April.
Ms T Owen
