Dear Parent/Carer
I hope that this week has gone well for you and your family and that your child is enjoying their remote learning. I know it is a challenging time, but it is encouraging to see how the vast majority of our pupils are engaging with their school work. It is really important that your child has a good routine and completes their work on the day it is set (if possible).
At the end of last week, the Government announced that children in secondary schools should be set a minimum of five hours work per day. This announcement came after we had communicated our plans with you. We have therefore decided to include independent study to the school day. The independent study will be included within the work already set by your child’s teacher each day. We, therefore, have a mixture of live lessons, book work, SMHW tasks and quizzes and independent study. This method is something Ofsted published this week as most effective. The tables below show the independent study times added to each day from Monday 18th Jan. Please share these with your child.

Once again, can I take this opportunity to thank you for all your support during this time. I hope your child has enjoyed all the live lessons which have been taking place, providing them with more opportunities to communicate with their teachers and peers. If there is anything we can help you with, please contact us in the usual way on: info@philipshigh.co.uk and we will do our best to help and support you.
I wish you and your families a restful weekend.
Yours faithfully,
Ms T Owen Mr C Hibbert
